Wheeler said that the average sticker price of a new vehicle reached $39,500 in the first half of 2019—out of reach for many American families. Kelly Blue Book earlier this month reported that the the estimated average transaction price for a light vehicle in the United States was $37,401 in August 2019, up 2% from August 2018.
