Tesla tops New Zealand EV cars sales in August

The Motor Industry Association ( MIA ) reported 10,940 new passenger car and SUV registrations in New Zealand in August 2022, up 138.6% Last year, New Zealand’s new passenger cars and SUVs registrations only reached 4,585 units. Mitsubishi followed Toyota closely behind at 12% share, and Kia came in third with 11% market share.

Notes: SUVs are not defined, but presumably this category includes crossovers. With caps on vans, SUVs and pickups at $80,000 the proposed revisions fundamentally fails these two goals.
