In Germany the smart brand is the market leader among all-electric vehicles in the first quarter of 2018. The smart plant in Hambach already obtains all its electrical energy from renewable energy sources and is therefore CO 2 -neutral. The preparations for the new model in Hambach will start shortly.

Core Luxury: The Mercedes-Benz plants in Bremen, Germany and Kecskemét, Hungary to manufacture vehicles in Europe based on the MB.EA The EQB compact SUV was launched at the Mercedes-Benz Kecskemét plant in 2021 and is the first purely electrically powered series production vehicle from Hungary.

The only exception to this geographical intra-Europe rule was Ukraine, entering the Top 10 in 2016-2018 on the power of grassroots-driven lively market of second-hand EV imports, which seems to have stalled in 2019-2020. And these EVs are powered mostly by renewable energy. Globally ~14k Ioniq BEVs were sold. E-buses were deployed.
