He was part of a team there developing missile and rocket systems, including the Atlas missile, which was used in Friendship 7. He closed the business in 2018. Johnson Mechanical filter pioneer Fellow, 88; died 18 April.

Former Berkeley Dean of Engineering David A. Hodges Dies at 85

He was largely responsible for moving the International Solid-State Circuits Conference in 1978 from Philadelphia to San Francisco. He helped found the IEEE Conference on Automation Science and Engineering. He also served as the 2018–2019 chair of the IEEE Technical Activities Board periodicals committee. for 37 years.
