Jeep global CEO Christian Meunier closed out 2021 by announcing his brand’s goal of becoming the “zero emission freedom brand,” with the Jeep Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid (PHEV) as its first example. The Jeep Wrangler 4xe PHEV is powered by two electric motors and a 2.0-liter Road Test: 2017 Jeep Cherokee.

Since many regular hybrids obtain a 50% increase in MPG, if hybrid sales continue to have their sales resurgence, they will contribute to a significant reduction in gas tax revenues. In the 20 year period of 1997-2017, the average miles per gallon (MPG) of new passenger cars increased to 39.4 MPG from 28.7.
