This technique—called ptychographic X-ray laminography—requires access to some of the world’s most powerful X-ray light sources. That was done at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) in Switzerland, where one of us (Aeppli) works. Shifting the objects within the slit [bottom left] alters produce a new combination [light purple].

Similar tactics that leveraged physical and mobile autonomous things could extend the blast radius beyond IT infrastructure to destroy physical infrastructure like factories, pipelines, electric grids, or worse.
