Uber is expanding its self-driving pilot to San Francisco, California, using specially-converted self-driving Volvo XC90 premium SUVs. Volvo Cars and Uber are contributing a combined US$300 million to the project. Both Uber and Volvo will use the same base vehicle for the next stage of their own autonomous car strategies.

Volvo Cars, and Autoliv signed a final agreement to establish a new joint venture called Zenuity to develop software for autonomous driving (AD) and driver assistance systems (ADAS), based on the letter of intent announced during fall 2016. As previously announced, Autoliv and Volvo Cars will own the joint venture 50/50.

We found only four for sale, with $28,880 for a 190km range 2014 60Ah version with 100,000km the cheapest. A 2017 94Ah i3 with 300km range and 50,000km on the clock for $37,900 looks the better buy. BMW i3 – from $28,000 2020 BMW i3s EV. The range extender hybrid i3s are basically the same price.

The forthcoming Polestar 3 will be manufactured alongside new Volvo vehicles at the Volvo Cars production center in Ridgeville, South Carolina. Polestar vehicles built in South Carolina will be for sale in the United States. Polestar was launched in 2017 by Volvo Cars and Geely Holding.
