Cadillac has greatly enhanced the performance of its ELR extended range electric vehicle (plug-in hybrid) ( earlier post ) for the 2016 model year, and is also cutting the MSRP by $9,005, bringing the starting price down to $58,495 net after the $7,500 US federal tax credit (MSRP = $65,995). 2016 Cadillac ELR.

On the face of it, this experiment would suggest that the all-electric car, which does have a greater electric range, contributed 400 more e-miles than the Volt. A thinking person should ask, “How did the Leaf owner travel the unaccounted miles, the ones that were not e-miles?” But the real story is yet to be told. Conclusions.
