The Lexus Hybrid Synergy Drive system ran smooth and quiet with no noticeable transitions between the gasoline and electric drive systems. There are four driver-selectable settings of EV, Eco, Sport and Sport+. EV runs solely on electricity for about a half mile and/or only up-to 25 miles per hour. Movin’ on up.

This isn’t a bad thing for the XT5 as it is a very good SUV, which its sales indicate, but at $65,000+ when outfitted like ours was, it felt a bit dated compared to some newer competitors we have driven, many of them with a lower price tag.
