Toyota to try to double sales in China by 2015; leveraging local subsidies for hybrids

At a conference in Chengdu, China, Toyota Toyota Motor Executive Vice President Atsushi said that the company is targeting selling 1.5 million new vehicles in China in 2015, up from 880,000 last year. Toyota’s share of the Chinese passenger car market slipped from 10.3% Toyota’s Camry hybrid qualifies.

Toyota begins production of current model Prius in China

Sichuan FAW Toyota Motor Co., established with China FAW Group Corporation in China’s Sichuan Province, has begun production of the third-generation Prius”gasoline-electric hybrid vehicle at its Changchun Plant. In 2010, GAC Toyota Motor Co., in Guangdong Province began production of the Camry Hybrid sedan.
