Electricity is a commodity that is bought and sold, and yet unlike most other commodities, it cannot easily be stored. In the 1990s, batteries had far less capacity than they do today, and for the small community of EV users, the prospect of running out of juice and becoming stranded was very real.

One wonders if the recent headway at MIT in building lithium ion cells using ?virus? Then consider that in order to actually go any farther than the neighbood store, one still had to have ANOTHER car. A simple, clean, efficient EV that wont run out of juice because of its on-board gas generator. Deliveries start in 2011.
