In a white paper released at a National Press Club briefing, Secretary Mineta detailed his support for such policies—i.e., Washington, DC’s current focus is electric vehicles (EVs) and electric technology. Monetary incentives are being used to alter consumer and manufacturer decisions.

ARB should initiate a drive to increase gasoline taxes nationally, in collaboration with interested political and environmental lobbying groups.
