GM Egypt to produce the Chevrolet Move in 2012; first SAIC-GM-Wuling vehicle assembled outside of China

SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW) announced today that the assembly of its Chevrolet Move—sold as the Wuling Rong Guang in China—will be assembled at General Motors Egypt starting in the third quarter of 2012. The Chevrolet Move will be the first Chinese vehicle assembled by GM in Egypt and the first SGMW vehicle assembled outside China.

The Suez Canal is an artificial waterway in Egypt extending from Port Said to Suez, connecting the Red Sea and Gulf of Suez with the Mediterranean Sea—a distance of 120 miles.
