Like electric cars, electric bicycles are classified as zero-emission vehicles, meaning they emit no exhaust gases. AFP Some 21m electric bicycles were sold in China in 2008, according to Frank Jamerson, author of Electric Bikes Worldwide Reports. Moreover, making an electric bicycle uses far less energy than making an electric car.
