Volvo Cars confirmed that it will introduce a series-produced plug-in hybrid diesel as early as 2012. Volvo had first suggested the 2012 date for a diesel PHEV in September 2009. Based on the NEDC cycle, CO 2 emissions from Volvo’s plug-in hybrid will average out at 49 grams per kilometer, with fuel consumption of 1.9

Although consumer tax credits for PHEVs enjoyed bipartisan support in both houses of Congress, concerns over other tax portions of the energy bill resulted in the entire tax package being removed from the original bill. The bill would provide a tax credit of between $4,000 and $6,000 for purchasers of a PHEV.
