The hybrid Altimas are partially funded by the intra-agency Energy Conservation Steering Committee, created by Executive Order signed by Mayor Bloomberg in 2007 and chaired by Deputy Mayor for Operations Edward Skyler. The Department also uses Dodge Chargers, mainly for highway patrol.

There were 26 selling days in January 2009, compared to 25 selling days in January 2007. The newly-launched Chevrolet Traverse crossover posted total sales of 5,215 vehicles.
