Dr. Hackenberg is being replaced by Dr. Stefan Knirsch, Head of Powertrain at Audi since 2013.

The Volkswagen Group is continuing its restructuring in the aftermath of the diesel engine emissions scandal. He was appointed Board Member for Engineering at Bentley in 2003 before taking over as Managing Director of the German Association of the Automotive Industry in 2012. Eichhorn holds a PhD in mechanical engineering.
