I do not agree with the EPA or the 2007 Supreme Court ruling that gave the Agency that authority. The resulting set of new standards will cover model years 2012-2016, and will require an average fuel economy standard of 35.5 mpg in 2016 (39 mpg for cars, 30 mpg for trucks), or approximately 250 grams CO 2 /mile.

Closer to home, the federal fuel economy standards require the average fleet fuel economy of OEMs that sell vehicles in the USA to be 35.5 mpg by 2016. In 2007 a federal level RPS program was proposed to congress requiring 15 percent of energy to be produced from renewable means by 2020, but did not pass.
