Based on records going back to 1880, the monthly National Climatic Data Center analysis is part of the suite of climate services NOAA provides. The worldwide ocean temperature tied with 2004 as the fifth warmest September on record, 0.90 °F (0.5 °C) Global surface temperature anomalies (degrees F) for the month of September 2009.
