Power and Associates 2004 report ]. Dont PHEVs just shift pollution from gasoline cars to power plants? But its monumentally less pollution , even on the national (half-coal) grid. At the moment, only 2004-2007 Priuses , and to a limited extent, the Ford Escape/Mercury Mariner Hybrids.

Several dozen prototypes on 15-passenger van since 2004; now in second generation development; no production plans. The resulting fuel efficiency improvements mean lower CO2 emissions and less fossil fuel consumption and, therefore, less pollution. Daimler/Mercedes Took over Daimler/Chrysler Sprinter PHEV program.
