Since MY 2004, CO 2 emissions and fuel economy have improved in ten out of twelve years, and decreased only twice. Both the GHG emissions and fuel economy standards rely on footprint to determine vehicle GHG and fuel economy targets. ft 2 (2.4%); cars increased 1 ft 2 (2.1%); minivans/vans increased 1.0 mpg per year.
