Basically, one either replaces or adds to the vehicles hybrid battery for greatly increased energy storage capacity, adds a charger that plugs into a wall outlet, and arranges for the hybrid system to use more (or only) electricity and less (or no) gasoline for propulsion until the battery is mostly depleted.
