The second is to design a Mach-II concept vehicle—without architectural constraints—that will obtain a mass reduction of 50% compared to the 2002 Taurus baseline vehicle while still retaining the basic size attributes and customer accommodations of the vehicle. The cast aluminum or carbon fiber wheels saved 30%.
