The US Energy Information Administration (EIA) has released a new report, State-Level Energy-Related Carbon Dioxide Emissions, 2000-2010. mt CO 2 ); and Pennsylvania (256.6 California consistently imports about 30% of its electricity and natural gas is the dominant fuel for the electricity that it generates internally.

Since 2000, electricity has been the only economic sector that has seen continuous and significant improvements in reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
