EPA To Approve E15 Gasoline Blend For 2001-2006 Vehicles Too

Following its October approval of E15 gasoline for 2007 or newer cars, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is to announce today that it will expand the approval to cars from the 2001 through 2006 model year as well. E15 contains 15 percent ethanol, half again as high as the legal maximum today of 10 percent in E10 gasoline.

Modern vehicles are equipped to capture those emissions. The systems capture fumes that escape from gasoline tanks during refueling.

Brazil Temporarily Reduces Ethanol Content in Gasoline from 25% to 20%

The Brazilian government has rolled back the anhydrous ethanol blend level in gasoline from 25% to 20% for a period of 90 days, effective 1 February. Blend reductions are not new in Brazil, UNICA said ; the last reduction occurred in March of 2006, when the percentage fell from 25% to 20%.
