The city government of Seoul and KAIST signed a Memorandum of Understating (MOU) on the development of the online electric vehicle in August 2009.

ATT Becomes Lead Customer for Ford Transit Connect Electric Vans
AT&T currently operates more than 77,000 vehicles in its corporate fleet, including 15 gasoline-powered Ford Transit Connect vehicles AT&T began piloting in 2009.
Azure Dynamics Corporation announced that AT&T has agreed to purchase two of the first Ford Transit Connect Electric vans. (Azure, Azure, which provides and integrates the electric powertrain into the Transit glider provided by Ford, is responsible for the sales of the vehicle—an arrangement similar to that for the production and sales of the Balance hybrid.)

Daimler Sells All its Equity Interest in Tata Motors
In February 2009, a new plant was opened in Pune for Mercedes-Benz E-Class and S-Class models. In 2009, Daimler Trucks founded its own production company, Daimler India Commercial Vehicles Ltd. (DICV), Daimler has sold all of its 5.34% of the ordinary shares of Indian automotive company Tata Motors to various groups of investors through the capital market. Tata Motors’ share price has risen significantly, especially last year, so Daimler will receive a substantial cash inflow of approximately €300 million (US$407 million) from the sale of its shares.

BMW looks into waste heat recovery
At the SAE 2009 World Congress, it presented an analysis of two basic configurations of the Rankine cycle applied to a thermodynamic heat recovery system in a four cylinder combustion engine. Alistair Darling’s 2009 Budget, which announced the introduction of a £2,000 scrappage incentive scheme in the UK, has been met with mixed reviews from industry experts.

EIA Projects 5% Decrease in Fossil-Fuel-Based CO2 Emissions in 2009; Little Change in Emissions from Gasoline
Click to enlarge. In its current version of the Short Term Energy Outlook ( STEO ), the US Energy Information Administration projects a 5% decline in fossil-fuel-based CO 2 emissions in 2009. The STEO projects that petroleum CO 2 emissions will decline by 4% in 2009, primarily due to declines in transportation sector consumption.
