2012: The Fordaizening of hybrid cars
Toyota sold 500,000. Is it real this time? Several years ago I had such hopes for Ford, particularly its couple hundred thousand hybrid cars per year by 2010 plans, including unique and new vehicles, such as the Reflex hybrid pictured here. Instead, Ford sold 30,000 hybrids last year.

Great time to crash a Toyota!
The car did it Contrary to popular opinion, now is the greatest time ever to own a Toyota. No worries these days, at least as long as you own a Toyota, of course. Geneva Yields A Hybrid Crossover
While no price has been released by Toyota officials, rumors have it coming in somewhere between $27,000 and $32,000. The Geneva, Switzerland Auto Show turned 80 this year and as expected, the theme was green. Tell Toyota to Get With the Program!
Rainforest Action Network is prodding Toyota to add plugs to their hybrids. Of course, Toyota could do it today with larger NiMH battery packs. I'd wager there is more than one plug-in Prius hidden away at Toyota's skunkworks in Japan. Both GM and Toyota are disingenuously pushing the nonsensical notion that plug-ins need to wait for Google is spending oodles doing it to their cars, but the rest of us need the carmakers to produce the plug-in hybrids and electric cars we want. It hasn't been a great year for Toyota in the U.S., So we were delighted to see the Toyota FT-EV II electric car concept for the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show , to prove that the company still has its wack intact. with a recall of 3.8 million vehicles for possible floor-mat hazards and a dire shortage of 2010 Prius hybrid models .

Toyota solar power plans begin to shine
Reports have once again emerged that Japanese car manufacturer Toyota is to develop a car that will be charged solely by solar power.
At its factory in Japan, Toyota has already been using rooftop solar panels to produce enough electricity to power 500 homes. The system cuts 740 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions off Toyota’s carbon footprint annually.
According to the Associated Press, the futuristic car is years away from reaching the market but is expected to get some of its power from solar cells placed on the vehicle and the rest from solar panels on the rooftop of the home where the car is parked.

Tesla Roadster, Toyota Prius, VW Touareg Crash in Denmark
A Tesla Roadster was involved in a three-way crash with a Volkswagen Touareg and a Toyota Prius earlier this week. Here's a frightening scene from the streets of Denmark submitted to Autopia by reader, Lars H. Apparently the Roadster was stopped behind the Touareg when the Prius rear-ended the Roadster, pushing it under the SUV.

Toyota Industries to Begin Selling Rechargers for EVs and PHEVs
