Large pickup retail sales began to recover in July with a 16% increase compared with June, driving total GM truck retail sales improvements of 12% when compared with the prior month. Non-core brand sales declined when compared with June as Pontiac dipped 7%; Saturn was down 21%, and HUMMER and Saab declined 26%. year-on-year.

General Motors has announced its intention to mass-produce two PHEVs -- a Saturn VUE SUV, and the Chevy Volt, a series hybrid (where only the electric motor powers the wheels and the gasoline engine recharges the batteries). Several after-market companies have done PHEV conversions of the Ford Escape hybrid and one has done a retrofit of the F-150 pickup -- see Where PHEVs Are and ICE-Conversions.) Plans Saturn Vue PHEV-10. Aims to get Saturn Vue on road in 2010; no production goal. Shifted earlier focus to all-electric Focus in 2011 with Magna.
