Toyota’s hybrid sales in Europe reach one million units

Hybrid sales already account for 23% of Toyota Motor Europe’s (TME’s) total sales year-to-date. In August, Toyota Motor Corporation announced that Toyota and Lexus combined had sold more than eight million hybrid cars worldwide since the launch of the Toyota Prius in 1997. Two-thirds of the hybrid sales in Europe are made in Europe.

Further complications are just around the corner when plug-in hybrids, diesel hybrids, and the next generation of conventional powered engines are made available. Hybrid-powered cars have CO2 outputs ranging from 89g/km to 219g/km, yet all are exempt from the London Congestion Charge.
