It’s really up to the battery manufacturers and the automakers as to which physical configuration to use, and then of course the internal chemistry configuration. Solid-state, lithium-sulfur, sodium batteries—would all of these still be using graphite in the anode? There are cylindrical cells, pouch cells and prismatic cells.
