Axion Power International, Inc, the developer of advanced lead-carbon PbC batteries and energy storage systems ( earlier post ), has entered a strategic relationship with ePower Engine Systems LLC. The PbC batteries accept fast recharge so they are capable of taking full advantage of the regenerative braking functionality of our system.

In April, Axion Power International Inc received an order from Norfolk Southern Corp (NS) for PbC lead-carbon batteries for use in an all-battery-powered switcher locomotive. year involvement with NS, which also includes the parallel development of a hybrid system for line-haul locomotives, noted Axion Power Chairman & CEO Thomas Granville.
