We always seem to hear that one coming from a mile away. This is especially important for electric and hybrid vehicles which can be difficult to hear at lower speeds due to their drive mechanism. When applied externally, Electronic Sound Synthesis, provides engine sound for hybrid or electric vehicles.

Encased in metal and painted black, the battery looked much smaller than a Roadster pack and is said to be able to power the fortwo up to 100 miles. Theres a company in Guernsey (a UK island) which does conversions (the Mk1 shape), but I want a current shape model and a 60 mile range is just fine. Mercedes please take note.

An (expected) high price tag. Line breaks and paragraphs are automatically converted — no need to use or tags. Side mirrors and a tiny tunnel of light for the rearview mirror to see through simply are not enough, and did nothing to make driving this expensive prototype easy with Detroit drivers all around. Small size.

However, because of the duty cycle used by the Postal Service, which generally amounts to only about 18-20 miles per day on a fixed route, these vehicles are being built without the range extender seen on the concept. My local post office is about 5 miles from my house, so could possible fit the range requirements.

BYD , for examples, says their 60 mile range-extended vehicle can add 30 miles of range in ten minutes. I dont like the idea of leasing a battery pack, or project Better Places pay for however-so-many miles on a plan and whatnot. Of course, EVs that arent designed for battery swaps wont use it, and plug-in hybrids wont need it.
