Toyota Motor Sales, USA will conduct a voluntary safety recall involving approximately 87,000 model year 2010 Toyota Prius and Lexus HS 250h vehicles. The involved vehicles are equipped with a brake pressure accumulator that may develop a fatigue crack on an internal part due to vibration.

Toyota said today it would recall some 2010 Toyota Prius and 2010 Lexus HS 250h hybrid cars in the U.S. The component, said the company, may develop an internal crack due to metal fatigue caused by vibrations over the course of the vehicle life. due to a potentially faulty brake-pressure accumulator.

The hybrid transaxle in the upcoming Lexus HS 250h hybrid sedan ( earlier post ) will use an electric transmission oil pump in place of a mechanical pump, further shifting ancillary loads from mechanical to electrical propulsion, according to Toyota.
