Some owners of the 2010 Lexus HS 250h will find an unfortunate notice in their mailboxes next month. Lexus has issued a recall of the hybrid car over the hybrid system, which can potentially fail altogether.

As part of what has become a global recall of the third-generation Prius, Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), USA Inc, will conduct a voluntary safety recall on approximately 133,000 2010 Model Year Prius vehicles and 14,500 Lexus Division 2010 HS 250h vehicles to update software in the vehicle’s anti-lock brake system (ABS). Lexus International announced it has sold more than 1 million hybrid vehicles worldwide since the RX 400h went on sale in April 2005. As of the end of March 2016, Lexus had sold approximately 1,000,600 hybrid vehicles in 11 years. Today, Lexus manufactures ten hybrid models, with more on the way.

Overall, cumulative worldwide sales of Toyota and Lexus hybrids have exceeded 1.7 In April 2005, Lexus introduced the crossover RX 400h, the world’s first hybrid-powered luxury vehicle.

Lexus will bring the CT 200h premium compact hybrid to the US market in early 2011 as the first dedicated hybrid vehicle in the premium compact segment.
