From the sale of the first RX 400h in 2005 through to the end of November this year, Lexus has sold more than 506,000 of its hybrid vehicles. Today, hybrids account for about 25% of all Lexus sales. Toyota has hit the millionth sale milestone for its hybrids in Europe with the delivery of an Auris hybrid to a driver in Germany. Hybrid sales already account for 23% of Toyota Motor Europe’s (TME’s) total sales year-to-date. Two-thirds of the hybrid sales in Europe are made in Europe. In August, Toyota Motor Corporation announced that Toyota and Lexus combined had sold more than eight million hybrid cars worldwide since the launch of the Toyota Prius in 1997.

At the Frankfurt Motor Show, Lexus introduced the fourth model—and the second hybrid—in the GS range, the GS 300h hybrid, which will be launched at the end of 2013. The fourth generation Lexus GS first went on sale in Europe in 2012 as a three model range comprising the GS 250, GS 350 AWD and the high-performance flagship, the full hybrid GS 450h.
