GM has offered Saab for sale, and is requesting Swedish government support prior to any sale. Saturn will remain in operation for the next several years, through the end of the planned lifecycle for all Saturn products. GM will have a total of 36 nameplates in 2012, down 25% from 2008 levels.

This proposal will be presented to creditors within three weeks of the filing. In its updated business plan submitted to the US Congress on 17 February, GM said it had offered Saab for sale, and had requested Swedish government support prior to any sale. The reorganization should have no impact on other GM operations.
