During the serial media launch events for the Chevrolet Volt, GM provided more detail (subsequent to the completion of related patent work) on the novel drive architecture applied in their first extended range electric vehicle to enhance the efficiency of both the battery electric and extended-range driving modes.

CPI) shortly after GM selected CPI and its parent LG Chem as the provider for the Li-ion batteries for the Extended Range Electric Vehicle (E-REV) Chevy Volt. (GM GM plans to handle module and pack assembly itself, earlier post.) As the technology gets fixed, the anode is more of an issue related to fast charge.

GM has announced plans for public sales in 2010, and almost every carmaker now says it will sell PHEVs or highway-speed battery electric vehicles (BEVs) sometime after 2010. General Motors Chevy Volt series PHEV, which it calls "extended range electric vehicle" (EREV), part of "E-Flex" multi-fuel platform.
