There needs to be a massive uptake in active and public transport, as well as the provision of Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS), changes to urban development, and the way we work. Affordable, convenient, safe and sustainable transport choices should be available for all New Zealanders. Less travel and mode shift are essential.

Our submission and inputs relate specifically to accelerating the uptake of e-mobility, but we recognise that decarbonising transport is much wider than that. E-mobility is an important component to a zero emissions transport system, but is still just a component. . Japan has a 2035 deadline. This is also a matter of fairness.
