Around 75 percent of RAV4 sales are petrol-electric powered. This is $4200 more than the X-Trail Ti and Ti-L with a petrol-burning 2.5-litre litre engine, and more again than equivalent RAV4 hybrid models. The Climate Change Commission has recommended setting a time limit on light vehicles with internal combustion engines entering, being manufactured, or assembled in Aotearoa as early as 2030. Slovenia, Iceland, the Netherlands, Ireland, India, Denmark, Sweden, Israel, Germany and the United Kingdom all have 2030 deadlines.
