A new all-electric luxury SUV is set to hit the market next year to compete with Tesla’s best-selling Model Y. Volvo is joining the luxury electric SUV market with its new EX60 launching next year. As one of the first legacy automakers to commit to an all-electric future , Volvo is seeing the results. Deliveries began in March.

Volvo’s all-electric model lead the growth, with global EV sales up 17% in January. Although Volvo’s Recharge model sales (EV and PHEV) fell 3% to 19,171, fully electric vehicles continued to see higher demand. Volvo expects sales of its all-electric vehicles to carry the momentum in 2024.

Volvo reached its highest-ever share of electrified vehicles as its new fully electric EX30 boosted EV sales in February. Although overall sales slid 2% last month, Volvo’s fully electric vehicle sales were up 14%, reaching a new record share. Fully electric cars also set a new record.
