Range-extended electric Metrocab licensed to carry fare-paying passengers in London

The range-extended electric Metrocab has become the first zero-emission-capable taxi to be licensed by Transport for London to operate on a trial basis as a London Hackney Carriage. The Metrocab has also been shortlisted for the London Transport Awards 2015, in the Taxi & Private Hire Innovator of the Year category.

London’s new electric range-extended cab has been tested by real-life taxi drivers and the city’s Mayor, Boris Johnson for the first time. The new Metrocab taxi, developed by UK firms, Frazer-Nash Research and Ecotive, is expected to save the typical London cabbie between £20 or £40 a day th[.].
