In 1944 Skolnik joined the American Institute of Electrical Engineers , one of IEEE’s predecessor societies. During his tenure at the company, he oversaw the design and construction of the Clinch River Breeder Reactor project, a sodium-cooled nuclear facility in Tennessee. He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees as well as a Ph.D.
