BYD Ltd and Praco Didacol (BYD’s Colombian distribution partner) announced that BYD e6’s will be placed into Taxi service as of Q1 2013 in the Colombian capital Bogotá as a pilot. The District Government authorized this scalable all-electric taxi pilot in an effort to improve the air quality in Colombia’s dense cities.

Nanjing, China and Nanjing Public Transportation Group ordered more than 1,000 fully electric transit buses and taxis from BYD Company Ltd. Authorities also placed an order for 400 of BYD’s all-electric e6, a 5-passenger cross-over utility vehicle, some of which have already hit the streets. Nanjing Jiangnan Electric Taxi Ltd.

The City of Bogota, Colombia, has launched a pilot project to spur the use of electric vehicles in Bogota’s center-city taxi fleet. The first taxis are expected to be operational in the city in the next few months. On 29 December 2011, the City of Bogota enacted Decree No. 677 to support the project over a three-year period.
