The head of Chryslers ENVI division, Lou Rhodes, told AutoblogGreen this morning that Chrysler is marketing this battery-only version of the van to commercial fleet customers who typically have shorter range requirements. Total sales worldwide in 2008 were 2 million vehicles. Apr 22, 2009 - Chrysler invented the minivan 25 years ago.

I wish the thing was for sale as-is. This has nothing to do with real economics and more to do with marketing, which is the black art of herding people into paying more for less. Well they did give brief bursts of acceleration through the parking lot to show that it does have some Roadster goodness to it.

The trouble is you then have to stop right away, which brings about some pretty strong regenerative braking action, something that Chrysler needs to work on before making the Circuit available for sale. The biggest problem with recharging at home - as already alluded to in the article, is that electric cars are mostly marketed as city vehicles. Drive in, drop the underslung pack, hydraulically uplift a fresh pack, drive out. I would prefer to recharge at home, and could do so. That is the compact territory to which they are best suited.
