FCA US LLC announced an agreement to supply “thousands” of Chrysler Pacifica plug-in Hybrid minivans ( earlier post ) to Waymo to support the launch of its driverless ride-hailing service. FCA previously delivered 100 Pacifica Hybrid minivans, adapted for self-driving, to Waymo during the second half of 2016 and an additional 500 in 2017.

Initially, the rides will be conducted in San Francisco as a part of Waymo’s Trusted Tester Program. . Waymo has been testing self-driving cars on public highways in the San Francisco Bay Area for the past 12 years and began providing rides to employees earlier this year. .

The Pacifica Hybrid is not designed to be sporty nor meant to be driven hard on mountain road or country lane curves, as the body roll at times is an “oh, boy!”
