According to a 2006 study cited by the Administration, implementation of pending plans for the federally designated HSR corridors could result in an annual reduction of 6 billion pounds of CO 2 (2.7 Florida Corridor (Orlando, Tampa, Miami). The merit-driven process will result in federal grants as soon as late summer 2009.
