(TMS) announced that New York City will join the company’s US Prius Plug-in Hybrid vehicle (PHV) demonstration program. Five new Prius Plug-in Hybrid vehicles (PHVs) will be used on city streets as part of Toyota’s partnership with the New York City Department of Transportation (NYCDOT) and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

is adding a Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid demonstration vehicle (PHV) to the WeCar program for Yahoo! Toyota is delivering more than 160 Prius PHV vehicles across the United States as part of a demonstration program. For longer distances, the Plug-In Hybrid vehicle reverts to conventional hybrid mode, operating as a regular Prius.

2012 Prius Plug-in hybrid. Toyota introduced the production Prius Plug-in Hybrid at the Green Drive Expo in Richmond, CA, as the newest member of the expanding Prius Family. With a starting base price of $32,000 (before rebates), the production Prius Plug-in features a 4.4 The demo units defaulted to EV mode.
