The plug-in hybrid version of the Jeep Wrangler offers useful all-electric range and great electric torque—if drivers plug it in. The accelerating pace of electric vehicle launches has brought us to this: The first Jeep in the US to get a plug-in hybrid version is the legendary Wrangler. Default: hybrid, not EV.

Chrysler used this for their EPIC Minivan and could charge at a rate of about one mile per minute. You could leave Los Angeles and drive to Baker, stop and have a meal while the car recharges, and have plenty of juice to make it to your hotel in Vegas. Some industrial sites are even set up with 440V 3 phase service.

A couple of drawbacks to consider might be the capitalization costs of building these stations and the batteries that they would have to have in stock. Of course, EVs that arent designed for battery swaps wont use it, and plug-in hybrids wont need it. You could sit in your vehicle while the operation takes place. not an issue.
