The bulk of the funding is flowing to natural gas projects, with additional funding for electric vehicle infrastructure and a biodiesel project. The projects are: Natural Gas. The transit authority has committed to purchasing four new natural gas-powered 45-foot coach buses and six 30-foot buses. Talon Logistics Inc.

The vehicles and infrastructure being funded include the use of natural and renewable gas, propane, ethanol, biodiesel, electricity, and hybrid technologies. The program includes the installation of 10 alternative fuel refueling sites (two B20, one Electric Recharging, and seven CNG). Total DOE award: $15,000,000.

T his week's meeting of the Electric Drive Transportation Association in Washington was accompanied by some significant announcements. Plug-in vehicles would combine today’s new electric-flex fuel (gas and/or biofuels such as ethanol) hybrid technology with a larger battery that could be recharged by plugging it into a standard wall sockets.
