Governments have offered subsidies or tax rebates to make EVs more appealing, a policy which the U.S. The International Energy Agency. estimates that by 2030 the deployment of EVs could cut global receipts from fossil-fuel taxes by around US $55 billion. Those tax revenues are necessary for the maintenance of roads.
